Privacy Policy
Effective: August 2, 2026
This policy explains what data Fluentessa ("we", "us"), operated by MicroSaaS Labs, collects when you use the Service, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run a reading service and a subscription.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account and use Fluentessa, we collect:
- Your email address — used to sign you in and for account-related communication
- Your name, if we have one — either what you enter on your profile screen, or the name you gave our payment provider at checkout — used to address you in emails
- Your reading progress, library state, and reader preferences — so you can pick up where you left off across devices
- Subscription and payment records — your plan, status, and billing history (card payments are handled by our payment provider; we do not receive or store your full card details)
- Basic usage and technical data — such as pages viewed, referring source, and general device/browser information
- How you first reached us — the page you landed on, the site or search engine that referred you, and any campaign parameters in the link you followed — recorded once, when your account is created
- Anything you send us — for example, messages submitted through the feedback form or by email
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the reading service and sync your library and progress across your devices
- Create and manage your account and subscription
- Process payments, renewals, and refunds through our payment provider
- Provide customer support and respond to your messages
- Understand aggregate usage and improve the Service and our annotations
- Keep the Service secure and comply with our legal obligations
3. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to sign you in and keep you signed in and to complete checkout. On the marketing site, Google Analytics runs with all storage switched off until you choose “Accept analytics” in the cookie prompt: in that state it counts page views without cookies, and without storing or reading any identifier on your device. If you accept, it also sets analytics cookies, which let us recognise a returning visit and measure which of our campaigns lead to signups and purchases. We do not enable personalized advertising or consent to sending user-provided data to Google for advertising.
Separately, when you create an account we record how you reached us — the page you first landed on, the site or search engine that referred you, and any campaign parameters in the link you followed. We read these from the address of a page your browser had already loaded, not from cookies or anything else stored on your device, so we record them whatever your cookie choice. We keep them with your account so we can tell which channels bring us readers, and they are deleted when your account is deleted.
Your cookie choice is stored in your browser until you change it or clear your browser data. You can change it at any time through “Cookie settings” in the site footer; withdrawing consent clears the campaign attribution held in your browser and the Google Analytics cookies visible to the site. Necessary sign-in and checkout cookies are not affected. In the reader app, analytics runs only while you are signed in to your account. Analytics never includes the text you read or type. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following service providers, each under their own privacy policy:
- Stytch — authentication and account sign-in
- Creem — subscription billing and payment processing
- Brevo — account email and mailing-list management
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, storage, and processing infrastructure
- Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics — aggregate usage analytics for the website and the reader app (where enabled)
- AI model providers — used to generate the translations and annotations in our catalog; this processing is of book content, not your personal data
We share only the minimum data necessary for each provider to perform its function, and we do not share your personal data with the AI providers used to produce catalog content.
5. Data Retention
We keep your account data, reading progress, and library state for as long as your account is active so you can return to your reading. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize this data, except where we need to retain certain records (such as payment and tax records) to meet legal and accounting obligations.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable form
To exercise any of these, contact us at support@fluentessa.com.
7. Children's Privacy
Fluentessa is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may store and process your data on infrastructure (such as AWS) located in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where reasonable, notify you.
